Siavash Alamouti (Persian: ????? ???????) is an Iranian-American engineer known for the invention of Alamouti space-time block code, patented jointly with Vahid Tarokh. He is the CEO at the Canadian company Mimik (formerly known as Disternet).
Alamouti received the B.S. and the M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, in 1989 and 1991, respectively.
He was the Group R&D Director at Vodafone Group in London, UK. Before that he was an Intel Fellow and the Chief Technology Officer of its Mobile Wireless Group. He was also known as the technical champion of Mobile WiMAX (IEEE 802.16e) and WiGig (IEEE 802.11ad) technologies.
Prior to working at Intel Alamouti's career included roles at Vivato, Cadence Design Systems, AT&T Wireless Services and MPR Teltech Ltd.
Alamouti holds several patents in the areas of wireless communication applications and wireless systems design and close to 20,000 citations for his scientific contributions.
